I wash in cold weather, and have three boys.I just use Tide or Gain with a tablespoon of borax laundry detergent booster and I know that the very dirty clothes in a Put - teaspoon of Oxi Clean, my carpet with Oxy and Greese a mixture of borax. mixed with water .. (Borax mule team 20 minutes)
My son is a grease-monkey (mechanical) We have tried all the cleaners on the market, the 1 seems that over the rest is Tide with Dawn Stain Removal. Works in all water temperatures.

Clorox 2 color with bleach and detergent. I work in a garage, and it works for me.
My washing machine is also a way to absorb and use for 2 hours.
